The South Carolina Technical College System Foundation plays a vital role in supporting the South Carolina Technical College System and its 16 colleges across the state. Through targeted programs, the Foundation helps drive economic growth and expand access to workforce development opportunities for residents in urban, suburban, and rural communities.
Create Opportunity is one of the Foundation’s signature efforts. Delivered in partnership with Midlands Technical College, the program prepares individuals for careers in software engineering by offering hands-on training and structured pathways into two-year apprenticeships with South Carolina employers. Participants receive support from recruitment through onboarding, classroom instruction, and on-the-job learning.
With funding from SC Quantum, the Foundation is expanding Create Opportunity to reach more learners and communities. This includes growing the program at MTC, launching new cohorts, supporting staff, and identifying additional technical college partners in other parts of the state. The goal is to meet employer demand while giving more residents a clear path into high-demand, high-skill careers in software and technology.
