The United Nations has declared 2025 the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (#IYQ25). In support of this initiative, SC Quantum developed the International Quantum Circuit (#IQC25) with partner organizations to raise quantum technology's profile and build community around this emerging field.
The International Quantum Circuit continues with the ITU and Quantum Coalition Future Leaders in Quantum (FLIQ) hackathon, May 16-20, 2025.
The International Quantum Circuit is making quantum real for everyone. Here's more about our next stop:
The Quantum Coalition, in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), are proud to launch the ITU-QC FLIQ Virtual Hackathon—a flagship global quantum computing event designed to engage and empower the next generation of quantum innovators.
PRE-REGISTRATION is open, but registration will be open through MAY 15!
ITU is a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN) dedicated to information and communication technologies (ICTs), with a global network of 193 member states, over 900 sector members, and leading academic institutions.
The Quantum Coalition is a global community of 15+ undergraduate quantum computing clubs with a mission of fostering collaboration, sharing resources, and organizing events to advance the field of quantum computing.
Unlike traditional hackathons, FLIQ is designed to be youth-driven and interactive, offering four diverse challenge tracks:
- Science Track: Technical problem-solving across the quantum stack using a sponsor’s quantum hardware and / or software
- Education Track: Development of engaging and accessible quantum learning content regarding a sponsor’s hardware and / or software
- Art Track: Creative and intuitive expressions of concepts in sponsor-specific areas ranging from quantum hardware to quantum information
- Innovation Track: Development of quantum applications for social good and entrepreneurship relevant to a sponsor’s technology
This multi-track format ensures a broad, inclusive experience, making quantum computing more accessible to students of all skill levels. Within each track, there are 2-3 expected challenges, with each challenge co-designed by a sponsor and leaders of an organizing university club.
