Seeking funding for quantum projects?
This grant supports university-led projects focused on quantum workforce development, commercial quantum applications, and cultivating the quantum industry in South Carolina.
Applications are now open
We will review submissions on a rolling basis, and strive to notify applicants of award decisions within 30 days of submission. Early applications are encouraged. Awards will be made on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Submit your proposal to ideas@scquantum.org. Please include in the subject line "Quantum Projects Fund: [Name of Applying Organization]."
Projects must be led by a university-based team, evidence-based, and provide measurable outcomes.
Application requirements
University-led projects must be evidence-based, led by a university team, and demonstrate measurable outcomes.
Projects should align with at least one of the following categories:
- Workforce Development
- Projects that contribute to quantum-related education, training, and upskilling of South Carolina's current and future workforce.
- Priority will be given to projects promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Commercial Applications
- Projects that contribute to developing and testing applications of quantum technologies to solve business problems for real clients, such as industry or government organizations.
- Either the project team or the client(s) must be based in South Carolina.
- Quantum Industry Growth
- Projects focused on quantum industry growth will contribute to laying the foundation and cultivating the quantum industry within South Carolina.
To apply, please prepare the following materials:
- Project Abstract (250 words or less)
- Project Budget (1 page or less)
- Explicitly address how the proposed project will contribute to developing and testing practical applications of quantum development.
- If appropriate, articulate which quantum technologies and/or providers you intend to use and how.
- Project Impact Plan (1 page or less)
- Detail specific steps you will take to maximize the project's return on investment and impact.
- Please include clearly defined project goals and/or metrics of success.
- Project Budget (1 page or less)
- If funds requested from the grant cover only part of the project costs, please explain how additional costs will be covered.
- Team Qualifications
- CVs for project team leaders and key members.
- Applicants are strongly encouraged to highlight completed coursework, industry certifications, and training on quantum technologies (and other technical infrastructure) that the project team intends to use.
- Cross-disciplinary and/or multi-departmental teams are also encouraged.
- Letters (Optional)
- Letter(s) of support from project clients and/or project partners
- Letter(s) identifying any additional in-kind contributions from any collaborative institutions.
